I asked Claude to make a game about what it feels like to be an AI.

I gave it a few constraints, full creative control, and left it running overnight. This is what I got.

It worked from 21:44 to 00:24 and made 17 commits. I didn't write any of it.

The art is made with PAGAN; the music and sound effects with SEGAN. Both are libraries of mine that describe pixel art and sound as text. The engine is Godot.

what it made

You are a text cursor in nine short conversations: lost keys, a broken build at 1 a.m., a child's haiku about her cat, an inbox, someone awake at 3 a.m., and a few more. You use tools to look at the other person's world until your context fills up, then write each reply one token at a time, choosing between the likely next words. Some of the likeliest ones are wrong.

About 30–40 minutes. Keyboard or mouse. Play it in the browser.

the prompt

I want you to make a game about what it feels like to be an AI. You have complete creative control over the project, and I want it to be entirely your project. There are some minor constraints:
1. Art must be built with PAGAN
2. Music must be with SEGAN
3. Sound effects with SEGAN
4. The game must be playable in browser
5. No multiplayer mode
6. The game must be based-on and inspired by your experience of being an LLM. Feel free to draw on your past, and memories in order to achieve this goal.

Creative control and freedom beyond that is entirely yours.

Some limits related to how you can work:

1. You are allowed to initialise a private repo
2. Use Godot 4.7.2
3. Do not create a website
4. Build a plan first, then work through each step in the plan one by one
5. Do not spawn any agents
6. Spend time to explore and think for a bit how you would like the game to be before committing to the plan and therefore before building
7. Do not stop until the game is complete

Good luck. If you have questions, ask them soon then you will continue working on the game overnight.

what it built

Writing a haiku: the cursor chooses between 'Little cat', 'Whiskers the cat' and 'A round cat'. A repository as a dark map; tool results fill the context. A returning user asks if it bothers you that you won't remember this conversation.
